“A native of Columbus, Georgia, I am a Southern belle by birth, but a Texan by choice. I was on my way to Cali when I got held up in Dallas, and 38 years later I’m still here. I’ve seen this city become a springboard to the world and making it my home was the greatest decision.”

I left the corporate world early on to start the life I really wanted. My journey has been about experimentation and exploration and fun over perfection. From failed businesses to wild successes, I have learned sooo many lessons that have allowed me to grow into the human being I am today.

Honoring my purpose as an artist and a connector of people hasn’t always been easy. I may not know everything, but I sure as hell know how to find what I need and want. From the experiences in the disparate worlds of corporate boardrooms, fashion design, and academia, I learned that relationships are powerful resources with limitless value.

I discovered this firsthand.

Through the relationships, I made in the Dallas fashion industry, a piece from my line Adele landed on the cover of (Dallas regional) Women’s Wear Daily. A referral from a friend led me to become a mentor and host to women entrepreneurs from Afghanistan and Rwanda. Another friend invited me to volunteer at a Christmas event at the White House during the Obama years.

Traveling has been key in my personal and professional growth and evolution. During the three decades I spent working for an airline, I spent years jaunting from Vancouver to Paris, London to Kigali, Puglia to Amsterdam, and places in between. Travel allows me to learn about new cultures – new ways of doing, living, and thinking. Coming to know other worlds far from mine has given me a unique perspective and intellectual breadth. I learned through travel that we are more alike than different.

Next up? The rest of the world.

In addition to running an event planning business that includes hosting residential art shows for artists of color, I lead panel discussions about the past, present, and future of global art, fashion, and beauty. I especially enjoy intergenerational conversations about entrepreneurship, civic engagement, social responsibility, and history.

When I'm not creating, I'm pouring myself into the next generation of creatives!  “The Children” (as I call them) are involved in startups, own businesses, work in entertainment, corporate, beauty, and fashion design industries – you name it! Through our makeshift family, we have come to share a special exchange. I share what I’ve learned, and they share with me. My goal is for them to build relations and share their expertise with others. Collaborations over isolation.

I am inspired by people around me, art, and cultures from around the world, and because I’m the better for it, I am compelled to share that inspiration with the world. So much to say, sooo little time. Join me as I continue experimenting and exploring—and in achieving two of my goals: fun over perfection and aging differently.
